Christmas. It’s a time for Christians all around the world to gather together and celebrate the Holy day that was created to honor Him. On December 25th, Mary gave birth to our savior, Jesus Christ. As we give thanks by spreading the Christmas spirit, attending mass and celebrating with family near and far, let us remember the true meaning of Christmas.

The prophets had told of Jesus’ coming hundreds of years before His birth. His coming brought great joy to the world. People from all walks of life celebrated His arrival- it was clear that Jesus was special. The star of Bethlehem served as a beacon for those seeking to find Him.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” – John 3:16-17

Looking back 2,000 years ago in Israel, we see the significance of His story (History). We have inherited the propensity to sin through Adam and Eve, and Jesus allowed us the ability to achieve God’s forgiveness. God entered our world as a man, Jesus, so He could display living perfectly and to atone for our sins. He was willing to die on the cross for the sins of all people who believed and trusted in Him, so that they would be saved from God’s righteous judgment. By opening our hearts to Jesus, we ask Him to forgive us.

As we prepare to commemorate this Holy day, let us be reminded of God’s gift. He loved us so much that He sent His only son to deliver us from our sins. He brought truth and salvation to us all. Let us spread love to one another, ask forgiveness for our sins, and worship Him and give Him praise. Rejoice- He is born!
